Apple plans to unveil iPhone 12 in its October 13th event

Cupertino tech-giant Apple is planning to unveil it's latest iPhone - rumored to be iPhone 12 on October 13, 2020 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. BST) in its second fall event at the company's new Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California; with the tag line “Hi, Speed.”

Apple may launch as many as four new iPhone 12 models - iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max, all expected to come with OLED Super Retina XDR displays. The new models are also rumoured to have MagSafe-branded wireless charging accessories, including an official magnetic caseranging; they are rumored to be in size from 5.4-inches to 6.7-inches. The phones are said to have a different design with a flat-sided body, similar to how the iPad Pro looks. The iPhone 12 family is also speculated to have improved Deep Fusion and Night Mode. All four models are expected to have 5G connectivity, though not every new iPhone will support millimeter wave band. The phones will likely feature Apple’s new high-performance A14 chipset and an upgraded camera. However, in the case of the Pro models, they will also get a LiDAR sensor that could make augmented reality (AR) experiences more appealing.

There's no official word yet on price or release date, however one can expect the iPhone 12 series to start from $699 and go up to $1099 for the top-end model. Like Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, and its September Apple Watch and iPad announcements, the iPhone event will be held entirely online. The event will be streamed via Apple's website.

Rumours are that Apple is also gearing up to launch a miniature version of HomePod at its October 13th event. It’s being said that this mini HomePod will be half the size of the original, with the same design. The Siri-powered smart speaker will be pitted against Google’s recently launched Nest Audio, which retails for $99 in the market.
